While Warner Bros. is still looking for a director for the Suicide Squad sequel, Variety reporthey had approached Adam Conzad, who wrote last year’s The Legend of Tarzan for them, to pen the script.

In addition to The Legend of Tarzan (which coincidentally co-starred Margot Robbie), Conzad has also written 2014’s Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and the action-thriller Underwater which is currently in development over at 20th Century Fox.

David Ayer, who wrote and directed Suicide Squad, is not returning for the sequel but it’s staying in the DCEU with Gotham City Sirens, which will focus on Harley Quinn and other female villains of the DC comics world such as Poison Ivy and Catwoman.

Suicide Squad was a financial success, so a sequel is a no-brainer for the studio who has reached out to several directors, including Mel Gibson, who has confirmed to be in talks to helm the picture.
