Looks like Black Adam will have a bigger role in the DC Extended Universe thanks to Dwayne Johnson’s star power.
As The Hollywood Reporter informs, the antihero will be getting his own solo, a move that apparently was born from a meeting between Johnson and DC Films head Geoff Johns that took place last week.
Dwayne Johnson has been attached to play Black Adam in a Shazam movie for a long time, but despite the actor confirming several times that project was still on, there never seems to be any actual development, and with so many DC films coming down the pipe, Aquaman, The Flash, Batman and Superman are taking precedence in the DCEU’s current schedule. But the choice now to actually give him his own movie is a very interesting one, even though there no writer or director attached yet.
In the comics Black Adam is known as the archenemy of Shazam, originally known as Captain Marvel. He was originally a corrupted, ancient Egyptian predecessor of Shazam, but recently has been reinvented as an antihero trying to clear his name.
