Filming on the Pacific Rim sequel is currently underway and thanks to new lead star John Boyega, we have our first official look at his character in the film.
In Pacific Rim: Uprising Boyega plays Jake Pentecost, son of Idris Elba’s though leader of the human resistance Stacker Pentecost. Boyega shared this image on his Twitter account with the simple message
I am a Pentecost. Take a look below!
Boyega leads an almost new cast that includes Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny and Jing Tian, with Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, and Burn Gorman being the only actors reprising their roles from the original film. Charlie Hunman, who played the lead role in that one couldn’t return due to schedule conflicts with another project.
Directed by Steven S. DeKnight, Pacific Rim: Uprising is set 10 years after the events of the first film, in a world that it’s recovering from the Kaiju threat. Though Guillermo del Toro decided to step down from the director’s chair, the script by DeKnight, Emily Carmichael, Kira Snyder and T.S. Nowlin is still based on his story. The film is set for release on February 23, 2018.
