Hans Zimmer hired to score Man of Steel

Giving further proof that the upcoming Superman reboot will be as much Christopher Nolan as a Zack Snyder’s is the fact that Hans Zimmer has been called to write the score for the film.

Very early on the project it was rumored that Hans Zimmer would rejoin Christopher Nolan, for whom he scored both Batman movies and Inception along with the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, for Man of Steel. Giving that it was only a rumor the composer said that he knew nothing about it but that it would be interesting to work on Superman.

Despite the fact that Tyler Bates has composed all live action efforts of director Zack Snyder including 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch, I’m afraid that the ‘failure’ of the latter and Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’hoole have taken some power off the hands of the director.

Either way, it will be interesting to see what new approach Hans Zimmer takes with the music. And it definitely should be a very different one of the one he’s taken with Batman because Superman really needs a heroic, patriot theme of its own, or else everyone will ditch his effort in favor of the famous Superman march composed by John Williams.
