Henry Cavill is making the jump from the DC Extended Universe into another big studio franchise as he joins the upcoming sixth entry in the Mission: Impossible series.
The news broke during back-and-forth Instagram conversation between Cavill and Christopher McQuarrie that begun with the director posting,
Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you’re interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.
Cavill replied in the comments section with,
How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair….
The conversation then continued with McQuarrie filling in the requirements to star in a Mission: Impossible movie.
@henrycavill excellent. Just a few caveats: must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?
@christophermcquarrie only if I get to fly for real.
@henrycavill I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in?
Oh ok…..I’m in! Cavill finally said.
The director finished the conversation posting,
@henrycavill Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds.
Christopher McQuarrie is returning to direct his second film in the franchise, the first filmmaker to do so. He will be joined by stars Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg. No word yet on whether series regular Ving Rhames will be involved this time. The film is scheduled for release on July 27, 2018.
Henry Cavill will next be seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League which will be released on November 17, this year, and he’s currently filming David Raymond’s psychological thriller Nomis alongside Alexandra Daddario, Nathan Fillion and Ben Kingsley.
