Jed Kurzel is taking over composing duties for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant as confirmed by the just unleashed first trailer for the film.

Harry Gregson-Williams, who had worked previously with Ridley Scott and wrote a few cues for Prometheus, was originally set to score the film, but parted the production due to scheduling and creative differences.

Jed Kurzel is singer-songwriter that has slowly been making his way as a film composer and whose credits include Macbeth, Assassin’s Creed, Slow West (curiously all starring Alien: Covenant‘s Michael Fassbender), The Babadook Dead Europe, Son of a Gun, and Snowtown for which he won the APRA-AGSC Screen Music Awards in 2011 as Feature Film Score of the Year.

Alien: Covenant is coming to theaters on May 19, 2017 directed by Ridley Scott and stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Billy Crudup, Noomi Rapace and James Franco.
