Looks like Zack Snyder will be taking a short break from big-budget comic adaptation films, and after finishing post-production on Justice League he will move on to a smaller project he has been developing since before Man of Steel.
Snyder will be directing the war thriller The Last Photograph which revolves around a war photographer in Afghanistan, who is the last survivor of an attack on American, and who later teams up with a special ops soldier in search of a family member. The Last Photograph will be the second original film Snyder directs (Sucker Punch, released in 2011 was the first). Kurt Johnstad wrote the script based on a story created by Snyder.
Ben Affleck’s in-development The Batman could take the available release date of June 14, 2019 originally owned by the Justice League sequel. Affleck is currently working on the script with Geoff Johns with shooting taking place by mid-2017.
Among this shuffling of projects, there’s still one untitled DC film set for July 27, 2018 and with The Flash and Aquaman having their release dates confirmed one has to wonder what will end up on that free spot.
