During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, a Jurassic World sequel is listed among composer Michael Giacchino’s slate of upcoming projects.
Director J.A. Bayona is at the helm of the sequel, with Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow acting as a producer this time and having written the script with Derek Connolly (Safety Not Guaranteed). All of Bayona’s previous films (The Orphanage, The Impossible, A Monster Calls) have been scored by Fernando Velasquez, so this news come as a surprise, but not really given that this is a big budget studio film. I’m a fan of Giacchino, but I would be a lot more interested hearing what Velasquez could do with the material.
Next up for Giacchino are Spider-Man: Homecoming, War for the Planet of the Apes and The Incredibles 2.
The Jurassic World sequel is scheduled for release on June 22, 2018 directed by J.A. Bayona and stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall, Toby Jones and Justice Smith.
