Warner Bros. Pictures has released a brand new image from the feature film debut of the world’s most famous female superhero.
In the image we can see Diana Prince (Gal Gadot), along with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) and other soldiers riding on horses through the woods. You might recognize this as the same team that appeared in that old photograph featured on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Take a look below:
The picture debuted in a Time feature about Wonder Woman’s long journey from comic to film and her importance in history. In that article both director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot speak about how they aimed to create a character who can stand as an equal to a man without losing what makes her distinctively feminine:
We’ve spent years treating male heroes in certain ways, Jenkins says.
I just applied those same tropes to her, and all these incredible radical moments suddenly appear to an audience.
We knew it was tricky. We wanted to find the balance between portraying her as confident and strong and feminine and warm, Gadot adds.
I didn’t want her to be a ball buster. I didn’t want her to be bossy. You can be powerful and also loving.
Wonder Woman is coming to theaters on June 2, 2017 directed by Patty Jenkins and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Lucy Davis and Lisa Loven Kongsli, with music by Rupert Gregson-Williams.
