The new film adaptation of the videogame series keeps slowly moving forward.
A new Tomb Raider movie has been in development for quite a few years, and it finally looked light it might actually happen when Alicia Vikander (
Ex-Machina) joined in the titular role of archeologist/adventurer Lara Croft, previously played by Angelina Jolie.
Now Walton Goggins has joined the cast as the villain of the piece, though no more details have been given at this point. Goggins filmography highlights include Quentin Tarantino’s
The Hateful Eight and
Django Unchained, Steven Spielberg’s
Lincoln, and Robert Rodriguez’s
The untitled Tomb Raider film is being directed by Roar Uthaug (
The Wave) with a script from Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and is set for release on March 16, 2018.
